A brief history of The Orme Girls' School Magazine
Orme Girls' Magazine Cover Spring 1926
The Orme Girls’ School Magazine appeared unbroken from the school’s foundation until 1980. From 1900 to 1917 it was published every term when the shortage of paper lead to yearly publications. Although termly editions appeared for a short period, it soon became biannual and then an annual publication. As well as a record of school activities, performances, trips, societies and team sports, the magazines also had extensive contributions from pupils past and present. These ranged from short stories, poems through to descriptions of journeys at home and abroad. Letters from Old Girls from all parts of the world featured regularly. By the late 70s it had become more of a pictorial record of the school but still with considerable creative writing contributions from pupils. Significant anniversaries were marked with special editions.
