The Fire-Fly was the official magazine of Newcastle High School. First "conducted" in 1880, it was published once or twice a year until 1983.

A rival, the Mayfly, was "conducted" by the boarders under the direction of A K "Jake" Barton. There just two issues, May 1936 and 1937. They were published to raise money for the Swimming Baths Appeal. Both survive in the Archive.
