An excellent set of A Level results for Newcastle-under-Lyme School’s High Achievers
It's been busy morning in the Stinton Building. So many opportunities are open to these students.
Peter Willson shows Head of Chemistry, Pete Thompson, his excellent grades
In the first set of results since linear A Levels were introduced for the majority of subjects, Newcastle-under-Lyme School students have achieved some excellent results. In a year when the top grades are reportedly much harder to attain, 58% of entries were graded at A* – B. Eight students achieved three or more A* or A grades, with two students gaining three A* and one A each.
“In a challenging year with the introduction of new two year linear courses, we are delighted that these results show strong performances”, said Academic Deputy Head Mark Snell.
Amongst many excellent individual achievements, a few stand out for special mention. Apollo Karkanevatos and Peter Willson both achieved three A* and one A, securing places at the University of Cambridge reading Classics and The University of Southampton reading Aeronautics and Astronautics, respectively. Ruby Bailey will head to University College London to read Medicine having achieved two A* and one A.
Beverley Godridge, Head of Sixth Form commented, “It is just not possible to name all the individuals who have fulfilled our expectations to take up places on the UK’s most highly regarded courses. We are extremely proud of all our students who have worked so hard to achieve these places. We must not forget the support from our staff and their parents in contributing to these successes.”
