Memorial Service for Dr J Tribbick, 1959 - 2018

The community at Newcastle-under-Lyme School have been saddened and shocked by the news of the sudden death on Monday 14 May, of Dr Jonathan Tribbick.

We reproduce this tribute from Rougemont School.

Originally from Leighton Buzzard, Bedforshire, Dr Tribbick was a classicist who spent his teaching career in HMC schools: as Assistant Master and Head of Classics at Hampton School, and Vice-Principal of Newcastle-Under-Lyme School. He was Headmaster of Rougemont School from 2002 to 2014.

His integrity and the quality of his leadership were outstanding, enabling the School to make improvements for our pupils beyond any expectations. He led Rougemont through two excellent Estyn inspections and his contribution to the School was immeasurable. His many accomplishments included the relocation of the Infant School from Nant Coch on Risca Road, Newport to the present site and the development of the new Design Technology and Science block.

After retirement he was still involved actively in the teaching of Latin, the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and continued to
support the School as a Governor.

Dr Tribbick was a wise and well respected member of the Rougemont family and will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and
prayers are with his wife, Margaret and family.

A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Dr Tribbick will be held on Thursday 14 June, 2pm at Newport Cathedral.
