From the 15-17 November the Mitchell Arts Centre was transformed into a 1930's landscape of wealth, poverty and societal divisions as we follow Bill Snibson's journey from unrefined cockney gentleman to the next Earl of Hareford. Bringing him to Hareford Hall, the Duchess of Dene and Sir John Tremayne attempt to educate Bill into the ways of the gentry and to separate him from his cockney girlfriend Sally Smith in a bid to convince the lawyers that he is fit to be the 14th Earl . Chaos ensues as Bill battles with establishment forces to keep his relationship with Sally on track as he adjusts to his new life in nobility.

Based on the book by L. Arthur Rose and Douglas Furber with a musical score from Noel Gay, 'Me and My Girl' is a heart-warming musical comedy that boils down to the love shared between Sally and Bill. With toe-tapping, hand-clapping musical numbers such as 'Love Makes the World Go Round' and 'The Lambeth Walk' the audience struggled to contain their enthusiasm and stay in their seats!

Our thanks go out to the hard-working cast and crew who have rehearsed since the beginning of the Autumn term, a special thanks goes to our drama teaching stalwarts Mrs Julie-Betts Nicholoson and Mr Sunny Yu. Over its three night run, audiences came out of the performance saying, "If we could bottle that feel good feeling...." Headmaster Michael Getty was "humbled by the talent we have in school and so proud of all of the cast, musicians and stage crew and the commitment of our staff. What a stunning show!"

Music and the Performing Arts plays a major part in school life and performances like these illustrate and showcase the commitment of our talented student body.

Below is a selection of images covering the three-night run!
